01 / Building stories

Read a building, discover a way of living.

This sixteenth-century Franciscan convent later accommodated different occupants and uses. After acquiring the estate, the municipality turned it into a public place of local memory; the municipal museum opened here in 1998. The transition from convent to museum is another interpretation of the same house.

Between exhibition, chapel and garden, a tool, local record or path to a courtyard brings history closer to ordinary lives. Follow the permitted route and read the building together with its collections.

What to notice

Compare the scale of courtyard, chapel and open galleries. Choose one local everyday object and read its label carefully.

02 / I Ching reflections

Ding · Preserve through continued use

Turning an old space into a museum requires more than repairing its appearance: memory needs to be understandable and accessible to people today.

Start with the architecture

Doors, passages and courtyards still guide movement, while cases, labels and reception introduce new needs. Observe how they meet: preservation does not mean freezing everything.

Bring the question into everyday life

Before renewing an object, identify what it should continue to carry: a memory, a useful function or a way to help someone. A clearly stated need gives change a direction.

Try an observation here

Choose an exhibit and ask which daily problem it once solved and what replaces it now.

Which part of ordinary life would you preserve for those who come later?

A contemporary cultural reading by Xiaoxiong inspired by the I Ching. The connection with the building is an editorial perspective, not the architect’s intention or a documented historical influence. It is not fortune-telling.

03 / Nearby life

A nearby table

Dining map records within three kilometres in a straight line of the reference point. Walls, railways and slopes may lengthen the journey. Check the entrance and whether the business is open.

The map may omit businesses. Records do not confirm trading status, menus or bookings. Records with an address are shown by default; you can include the others.
