01 / Building stories

Read a building, discover a way of living.

Frielas reveals Loures beneath today’s ground level. The municipal archaeological inventory identifies fourth-century residential structures over earlier first- and second-century remains, with later medieval and modern occupation. The surviving walls do not all belong to one period.

On an authorised visit, observe how walls, a courtyard and passages divide space, comparing your impressions with the site interpretation. Low remains need explanation; leave uncertain details open rather than imagining a complete mansion.

Contact the municipality before visiting. Without confirmation, do not pass fences or assume that access inside the site is step-free.

What to notice

Follow one wall from the authorised route and check the interpreted use of the space.

02 / I Ching reflections

Bo · Reading change through remains

Absence shows the limits of knowledge. Surviving material supports some readings and leaves other questions open.

Start with the architecture

Foundations turn former rooms into open-air lines. Compare spaces and connections, relying on archaeology for functions and dates.

Bring the question into everyday life

Bo invites us to live with incompleteness. Admitting a gap separates observation from imagination. Personal memory also loses pieces: how can you preserve what remains reliable?

Try an observation here

Record one visible structure separately from a question requiring archaeological interpretation.

How do you read a story when only some evidence survives?

A contemporary cultural reading by Xiaoxiong inspired by the I Ching. The connection with the building is an editorial perspective, not the architect’s intention or a documented historical influence. It is not fortune-telling.

03 / Nearby life

A nearby table

Dining map records within three kilometres in a straight line of the reference point. Walls, railways and slopes may lengthen the journey. Check the entrance and whether the business is open.

The map may omit businesses. Records do not confirm trading status, menus or bookings. Records with an address are shown by default; you can include the others.
