01 / Building stories

Read a building, discover a way of living.

In Sobreiro, potter José Franco created a representation of local life. Workshops, shops and miniature houses arrange working memories into a place to explore. It is a recreation, not an ancient village preserved intact.

Choose one activity: milling, shaping clay or trading. What tools and spaces does it need? Moving between miniature and everyday scales, consider the less visible crafts on which your own life depends.

What to notice

Choose a workshop and identify its tools, movements and materials.

02 / I Ching reflections

Jian · Learning through practice

Jian draws attention to gradual learning. Skilled hands hold many quiet repetitions. A miniature can turn our attention towards concrete work.

Start with the architecture

A miniature reduces dimensions while keeping working relationships visible. Compare the position of tools with the space their user needs.

Bring the question into everyday life

Choose a skill you want to learn and reduce it to a repeatable gesture. Allow awkwardness: an impressive result does not replace practice.

Try an observation here

Describe a tool’s function before looking up its name.

For which craft would you be willing to slow down?

A contemporary cultural reading by Xiaoxiong inspired by the I Ching. The connection with the building is an editorial perspective, not the architect’s intention or a documented historical influence. It is not fortune-telling.

03 / Nearby life

A nearby table

Dining map records within three kilometres in a straight line of the reference point. Walls, railways and slopes may lengthen the journey. Check the entrance and whether the business is open.

The map may omit businesses. Records do not confirm trading status, menus or bookings. Records with an address are shown by default; you can include the others.
