The position of this readingSanta Marta Lighthouse’s value should be read from the position of those relying on it at sea. Through Li, light depends on equipment and care. As scenery ashore, its meaning as a navigational guide still deserves recognition.
A contemporary editorial reading through the I Ching, open to discussion and challenge; it does not represent the building’s original intent or the venue’s position.

明两作,离。 Light rises again: Li.
Li invites us to see light together with what supports it: equipment, energy, maintenance and judgment. Clarity depends on continuing care.
01
Ashore and at sea
A visitor sees a coastal scene; a navigator seeks orientation. The same tower takes on different meanings from these positions. Its reading should reach beyond the spot from which it is photographed.
02
What supports light
The dependence evoked by Li moves attention from light to its supports. Equipment, automation and keepers’ work make reliability a matter of continuing care beyond a first illumination.
03
Labour on display
The museum brings navigation equipment and keepers’ work into public view. Beyond the objects, we should ask how that work is recorded. Scenic beauty should not remove its maintainers from the story.
