Designed by Marques da Silva on a former convent site, São Bento brought railway life into the historic centre. Jorge Colaço’s tiled panels depict history, transport and everyday life. Pause to look, while keeping the way to the platforms clear for passengers.

We read Lü as awareness of being a visitor. São Bento receives people studying tiles and people catching trains. Some pause; others need to pass through.
The transport and everyday-life scenes described above can be compared with present arrivals and departures. Journeys on the walls are preserved; journeys on the floor are still happening. Both need room in the hall.
Travel is not only our itinerary. Here, Lü suggests looking closely while respecting the station's everyday purpose.
